Partnering with a handful of nonprofit partners, our goal was to use Cairn Brewing as a space to co-host larger scale events, making a bigger impact. Events like Boxers and Brews, OktoberForest, and Dog Gone Seattle’s Drink a Draft with a Rescue Dog meet-ups brought so much fun and energy to our taproom. You can learn more about our partners and our marquee events here. Unfortunately, the pandemic forced us to either cancel or scale back almost all of our events.
Just like many small businesses have faced challenges over the last year, charitable organizations have faced an uphill battle raising funds to support their causes. With in-person events coming to a halt during 2020, nonprofits couldn’t create those human-to-human connections that help raise the funds needed to continue their work.
For over 10 years, Family Jewels Foundation advocated for men’s health through education on testicular cancer. The annual Kenmore Ball Crawl was always a lively day in the taproom, pairing education with fun and great beer. But, after canceling both of its major 2020 fundraising events, Family Jewels Foundation is sadly dissolving due to Covid-19. Our hearts go out to Nancy and the rest of FJF for making this heart wrenching choice. We also want to celebrate the accomplishments and difference FJF has made for our Northshore Community.
On
March 9, 10, and 11, Cairn will donate 10% of sales to help fund the foundation’s
Jaimeson Jones Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship, which is awarded to students who have had a sibling with cancer, will continue on at The Scholarship Foundation at Northshore. We hope you’ll join us here at Cairn by raising a pint for a good cause.
We’re feeling more hopeful as spring enters the air. The pandemic tides are changing and we are hoping to return sooner rather than later to a time when Community Pint Nights will happen again in our taproom. We were also so blown away by the outpouring of generosity from our Cairn family during our food drive for Northshore Food Pantry. Your donations completely filled our Cairn van and we donated over $1000 raised from our sales that week. Thank you for helping us make a difference. We are looking forward to giving back and supporting our beautiful Northshore neighborhood— one that showed up for us when we needed it.
Cheers to that!
