Beer is made up of 95% water. Forests filter rainwater, creating cleaner fresh water. Fresh and clean water makes for much tastier beer.
Healthy forest = Cleaner Water = Better Beer
It’s as simple as this: if you love beer, you should love your forests.
Forests, like the rest of us, have had an eventful 2020. During quarantine, many of us found comfort among our green spaces, where we could spread out and take a breath of fresh air. Our Cairn community has its own collection of backyards forests, including North Creek Forest.
During our previous OktoberForest events, Friends of North Creek Forest have led fun activities both inside our taproom and in the forest itself. Unfortunately, that won’t be the case this year--what we wouldn’t give for another crowded taproom, eagerly listening to a talk on bats!
The celebration will carry on, just in a different way. To kick things off, we will release our beloved Spruce Hugger Red IPA on October 1st. This balanced Red IPA is infused with spruce tips, our way of celebrating just one of the types of conifers who make the North Creek Forest their home.
For each pint and can sold of this benefit beer, Cairn will be donating $1 to FNCF.
Fall is also a magical time to get out in the forest as the leaves change color and the quality of light softens. Head over to North Creek Forest to participate in FNCF’s Learning @ Home Scavenger Hunt. Or, for a good reset, sign up for October 17th “Shinrin Yoku” forest bathing sessions.

Can’t wait to celebrate forests with you all this month. Just remember: Love beer = Love Forests.
